In early 2005, my school participated in a drawing contest that marked the beginning of my artistic journey. Two classes had been invited to an exhibition that commemorated the life of a renowned regional poet. Upon our return to school, each student was tasked with drawing about this story. Despite my lack of prior art experience, my work was recognised with an award, and I was honoured to attend a small ceremony where I had the privilege of meeting the judging panel.

Among the judges, Emilia, a drawing and painting instructor with her own studio class, left a lasting impression on me. It was through this fortuitous encounter that, in September 2005, I became a part of Gribouill’Art, where Emilia shared her expertise and passion with me and others.

Fast forward 18 years, and my enthusiasm for art remains undiminished. Each week, I eagerly anticipate my Gribouill’Art class, where I continue to refine my skills and draw inspiration from life in general. Although the studio closed its doors after 35 years, with Emilia’s well-deserved retirement, this won’t stop me from continuing to draw and paint. During the weekend of 27-29 September 2024, Emilia organized a final exhibition with former and recent students, featuring both retrospective and original artwork — a wonderful moment rich in shared memories and emotion.
